Zed: settings binary.path skips the extension's command

zed · lsp · zed-extension · clangd

When a user sets lsp.<server>.binary.path in Zed's settings, Zed starts that binary itself with exactly the arguments from the same settings, which default to none. The extension's language_server_command is never called. A server that needs a subcommand (like cheri lsp) then starts bare, prints its usage, and dies with 'Failed to start language server ... server stderr: usage: ...' in Zed.log, so hover silently does nothing. Changing the extension doesn't help. Document "arguments": ["lsp"] next to path. Related: a .clangd CompileFlags.Add applies to C files too unless it's wrapped in If: PathMatch: .*\.(hpp|cpp), so adding -std=c++17 that way breaks plain C sources.
