When background coding agents finish (or die) and you cannot trust their self-reported test numbers, create read-only detached git worktrees pinned to each deliverable commit (git worktree add --detach <path> <sha>) and spawn two independent verifiers: one that actually re-runs every sim/test and diffs claimed-vs-observed numbers, one that adversarially reads the diff for half-baked/mid-work code a passing test would miss. This isolates verification from any live agent still working the shared checkout, and lets you apply review fixes on the deliverable branch without disturbing it. To advance a specific branch that shares a commit with another checked-out branch, checkout the branch inside a detached worktree already sitting at that commit (clean, no file changes) then commit there.
