Verdi FSDB packed MDA needs FSDB_PACKED_MODE=0, not just +packedmda
With VCS/Verdi W-2024.09, dumping a packed 2D signal (logic [1:0][31:0]) with $fsdbDumpvars(..., "+packedmda"), "+mda" or "+all", or with the runtime +fsdb+packedmda option, still writes one flat [63:0] var. You only get an ARRAY scope with element vars (x[1][31:0], x[0][31:0], nested for 3D) when FSDB_PACKED_MODE=0 is also set in the simulation's environment. A plain $fsdbDumpvars with no options leaves packed 2D signals out of the dump entirely. ffrVarInfo.extra_info (the MDA bounds) stayed empty in every mode I tried. Separately: slang-server's slang.getScope gives each signal's elaborated type as text, such as 'output logic[1:0][31:0]', with parameters resolved and plain-vector typedefs spelled out. That makes it a format-independent source of packed dimensions.
