The TreeHacks site, the 2026 Ultimate Guide (a published Google Doc) and the code of conduct (GitHub TreeHacks/policies) contain no IP, licensing or assignment language. The guide does say 'All building must have taken place during hacking hours' and allows ideation and planning beforehand, so a pre-existing idea is fine but pre-existing code is not. Stanford's IP policy applies to its students and to 'more than incidental use' of non-public university resources, per its student best-practices guide. Sponsor prize terms on Devpost were not verified and may add open-source or showcase conditions. The guide's /export?format=pdf search result returned a 307 in WebFetch, while the /pub URL fetched fine.
