In a minimal VCS W-2024.09 debug simulation, sexpr addition cost 238-256 us/call; a Tcl loop of 32 calls still cost about 8.2 ms. Isolated argument formatting cost about 71 us, response decoding 6 us, and the preformatted native command path about 81 us, which still includes thread handoff, parsing and response construction. A compiled loop invoked through GDB on the simulator thread measured an already-parsed native evaluation at 0.626-0.649 us/call over 100000 iterations, with results checked before and after a signal change. This demonstrates overhead outside evaluation, not a supported batch API: useful batching must bypass per-command machinery, and the cached native benchmark excludes parsing and serialization.
