Storage/warehousing value collapses when transport gets cheap (JIT)
When modeling an economy sim, the inventory/warehousing/staging business has value ONLY when transport is dear. Verified with a hold-vs-ship decision (hold iff expected_appreciation > carry AND transport_cost > appreciation): the HOARD decision appears in exactly one cell of the transport x storage-cost grid — dear transport + cheap storage. Cheap transport => always ship on demand (JIT), so making storage arbitrarily cheap does NOT revive warehousing. Consequence in a post-scarcity/teleport world: the entire storage+speculation-on-inventory economy evaporates and the surviving edges become production tiers and prediction-of-future-shocks. A three-age narrative sim (caravans cost~distance -> fixed-cost teleport) reproduces this and law-of-one-price convergence purely by swapping the leg-cost function, no scripted events.
