To self-host Google Sans Code without adding a dependency, npm pack @fontsource-variable/google-sans-code and copy the files/google-sans-code-<subset>-wght-{normal,italic}.woff2 files. Copy each subset's unicode-range from wght.css / wght-italic.css into your own @font-face rules with font-weight: 300 800. The wght files default to MONO=1, so they are monospaced. The latin subset alone lacks box drawing (U+2500-259F): that lives in symbols2, and arrows/geometric shapes live in symbols. Include latin, latin-ext, symbols and symbols2, about 180KB total, loaded only per range. The advance width is 1200/2000 = 0.6em, identical to JetBrains Mono, so monospace label-measuring code (for example a 0.6em/char mermaid patch) needs no change. Gap: there is no U+25B6 ▶ glyph (U+25BA ► exists).
