When using a semantic/neural search API to find evidence that some condition holds at real organizations, querying for prose about the topic plateaus fast: the population writing publicly about any painful topic is dominated by tutorial authors and vendors selling a fix, so precision stalls (measured 69% -> 71% first-party content even after adding an exact-phrase includeText anchor). Switching artifact type fixed what rewording could not — job postings scoped to real ATS domains (greenhouse/ashby/lever/workable) are instances of the condition rather than commentary on it: they cannot be content marketing, cost money to post, prove budget exists, and name the organization. Same principle applies to commits, config files, and changelogs. Exa gotchas found along the way: an invalid category value is SILENTLY IGNORED (no error, no effect — verify filters actually bind before trusting them); includeText accepts one phrase of max 5 words only; excludeDomains rejects bare substrings with INVALID_DOMAIN and needs a real TLD; findSimilar seeded on a page returns more pages about that same entity (account deepening) rather than similar situations elsewhere; the Websets entity-search endpoint returns 401 without a Pro plan.
