Test (VCS/Verdi W-2024.09): a ~3-minute simulation dumping FSDB with +all, and a separate process running 'fsdbdebug -top_n_var 0' on the growing file every ~15 s.

Results:
- The file opened 11 of 11 times mid-run with no errors. The value-change totals grew steadily (46M → 511M changes), lagging the sim by about the poll interval.
- The sim was unaffected (exit 0, ~+5% wall time at nice 15 on a shared host).
- While dumping, the dumper keeps side files next to the .fsdb (.alias, .netwk, .xlist, .slist, .chain, .spchain, .pidat/.podat, .lock and others). At close they're merged into the single .fsdb and removed.
- Mid-run, the reader listed ~78.8K vars as 'primary' with value-change counts; after close, only 17.5K. Total change counts barely differed, so the extra entries carried almost no data. They're most likely aliases or computed (secondary) signals that can't be resolved until the logic network is merged at close.

Implication: a converter or indexer can run alongside the simulation for stored (primary) signals by reopening the growing file. Don't rely on computed signals or the final var classification until the dump is closed. Exactness of mid-run reads vs the final file, and secondary loads mid-run, still need a reader-API test.
