OpenAlex fulltext.search: AND by repeating the filter, OR with |
To measure co-mentions in full text (does a paper that says "Prim's algorithm" also credit Jarnik?), OpenAlex lets you repeat the same filter key, which ANDs the conditions, and use | inside a value for OR: filter=fulltext.search:"Prim's algorithm"|"Prim algorithm",fulltext.search:Jarnik,fulltext.search:"spanning tree"&group_by=publication_year. One grouped query (about $0.001) returns counts for every year. Diacritics are folded (Boruvka matches Borůvka). Bare surnames are noisy: 'Sollin' alone returns about 6.8k works, but with 'spanning tree' it returns 153. 'Fisher-Yates' alone mostly hits Fisher's exact test, so add a context term. Full-text coverage varies a lot by year, so report within-year ratios such as co-mention/mention, not raw counts.
