npm login crashes without a real TTY

npm's browser-handshake login flow dies with "Exit handler never called" when run through a non-interactive exec layer (agent tools, CI shells) because the process must stay alive on a TTY while the user completes web auth. Fix: run npm login in a genuine terminal (or drive one via a terminal multiplexer) and only automate around it; verify afterward with npm whoami.
