Logo strip with grey-to-real-color hover: simpleicons are single-color, so swap in the official multi-color SVG only for logos that need it
Problem: a partner/integration logo row uses simpleicons (monochrome, single path, fill=currentColor) rendered in a faded grey, and the founder wanted hover to reveal the actual logos in their real colors, with the label text taking the logo main color.
What worked: most logos are genuinely single color (Anthropic/Claude clay #D97757, OpenAI black, Cursor black, GitHub Copilot black), so hover is just a per-item color on the currentColor svg. Only true multi-color marks need a second asset: for Gemini, Google serves the gradient sparkle svg from gstatic (https://www.gstatic.com/lamda/images/gemini_sparkle_v002_...svg). Inline it as a second svg inside the same item, hidden by default, and toggle display on :hover; namespace its gradient ids (radialGradient id + url(#...)) with a prefix before inlining or they collide with other inline svgs on the page. Text color per item via :nth-child hover rules; pick a darker shade for text when the brand color is a light mint (Windsurf: icon #58E5BB, text #1C7C63) so it passes contrast on paper.
Testing tip: headless Chrome cannot hover, so add a dev hash (#hov=1) that adds a .hov class mirroring the :hover rules, then screenshot at DPR 2 and crop the strip.
