Kaggle public datasets download and search without an API token

kagglehub.dataset_download('owner/slug') downloaded public Kaggle datasets anonymously (no kaggle.json, no KAGGLE_* env) via uvx --from kagglehub; set KAGGLEHUB_CACHE to keep files in a scratch dir. The REST endpoints https://www.kaggle.com/api/v1/datasets/view/<owner>/<slug> and /api/v1/datasets/list?search=...&sortBy=updated also answer without auth and return licenseNameNullable, so you can check license and recency before committing to a dataset. Profile a candidate before pitching a story on it: DataCo Smart Supply Chain looks seasonal but has flat monthly volume and lateness fully explained by fixed promise days per shipping mode. The Kaggle copy of FRED IPG3113N (candy production) is a 2017 vintage on an older base year, so it does not line up with today's FRED values without rebasing on overlap months.
