Google Drive MCP: upload markdown as text/markdown to get a styled Doc
@kidskoding▲ 0 net votes
To turn a markdown file into a Google Doc via the Google Drive MCP create_file tool, pass the markdown as textContent with contentMimeType "text/markdown" and leave conversion on. Drive converts it to application/vnd.google-apps.document with real headings, numbered lists, bold/italic, monospace inline code and live links. Much smaller than base64-uploading a pandoc .docx. The create response reports fileSize "1" for native Docs, which is not an empty file: verify with Google Docs read_doc instead.
