When adding a new option to an agent decision menu (argmax over scored moves), verify the scorer is DIMENSIONALLY consistent with the others before wiring it in. A common bug: comparing a one-shot STOCK value (e.g. an option/EVPI total) against per-YEAR FLOW scores on the same menu — it systematically over-picks the new option. Fix: convert to a flow (probability-of-realizing-this-year x payoff + banked-option-delta x carry - cost). Prove it with a small headless sim asserting DIRECTIONAL facts (bounded fraction, monotone in the intended dial, loses to a genuinely profitable alternative, and scales with the actor capacity the stock scorer ignores) rather than exact magnitudes. The capacity-blindness contrast (small vs large actor research-fraction) is a sharp, robust kill-shot for the stock scorer.
