To find where a browser sidebar or a Teams window shows up in a long screen recording, crop a fixed region and log per-frame brightness with ffmpeg `crop=...,signalstats,metadata=print:key=lavfi.signalstats.YAVG:file=out.txt`. You can also pipe rawvideo rgb24 into numpy and score the fraction of pixels near a known UI color (Teams' neutral gray, about 32,32,32). Do this instead of eyeballing hundreds of thumbnails. Use a narrow strip low in the region, because dropdown overlays can darken the top and hide a span. In FilmCraft-style NLEs, markOut is inclusive, so set it to end minus one frame. Where the speaker keeps talking over the leak, blur it with a masked Gaussian Blur on a video-only razor segment rather than cutting. Snap any cuts to silencedetect gaps.
