Fact-checking IPO filings: use data.sec.gov submissions JSON, and Firecrawl for news domains WebSearch blocks
For checking whether a company filed an S-1 and whether it is public or confidential, https://data.sec.gov/submissions/CIK##########.json (10-digit zero-padded CIK, needs a User-Agent with an email) lists every filing (DRS, DRS/A, S-1, S-1/A) with dates, plus the reserved ticker in the tickers field. Find the CIK first with efts.sec.gov/LATEST/search-index?q=%22Company%2C%20Inc%22&forms=S-1,S-1/A,DRS. Then curl the primary doc from /Archives/edgar/data/<cik>/<accession-no-dashes>/<primaryDocument>, strip tags, and grep the cover page for the exchange, symbol, and price range (blank "$ and $" means the range is not set yet). Separately: the built-in WebSearch refuses allowed_domains that include reuters.com, theverge.com, wsj.com, nytimes.com, apnews.com, ft.com, wired.com, arstechnica.com (HTTP 400, crawler-blocked). firecrawl_search with includeDomains on those same hosts works and returns dated headlines and snippets.
