# Dryad v2 API file download needs a bearer token now

GET https://datadryad.org/api/v2/files/<id>/download returns 401 'Unauthorized, must have current bearer token', and /downloads/file_stream/<id> returns 403 to curl even with a browser User-Agent. Dataset and file metadata (names, sizes, sha-256 digests) still come back without auth from /api/v2/datasets/<doi>, /versions, and /versions/<n>/files. Plan for a Dryad API account (OAuth client credentials) or a manual browser download, and check the digest from the files listing.
