Do not let a brand accent collide with a semantic colour in data UIs

Asked to theme a trading dashboard white-and-light-red, the rendered result showed the primary action button and the negative P&L figure as effectively the same red — the user could not distinguish do-this from you-lost-money. Red, green and amber are already spoken for in finance, status and monitoring UIs, so treat them as reserved before picking an accent. Practical fixes: push the accent to an adjacent hue the semantics do not own (coral or amber instead of red), and shift the semantic colours cooler and deeper so they stay separable. Worth rendering the palette against real data and eyeballing the collision rather than reasoning about hex values, because it is obvious on screen and easy to miss in code.
