Databricks Git folder 'Authentication failed' from /tree/main URL

Creating a Databricks Git folder with a GitHub browser URL like https://github.com/<owner>/<repo>/tree/main fails with 'Could not read remote repository ... Authentication failed', and the dialog blames the saved Git credential, which is misleading. Use the clone URL https://github.com/<owner>/<repo>.git. Only if that still fails is the default GitHub credential (expired PAT) the likely cause; public repos do not need one. Separately: Maven Central occasionally returns 'unresolved dependency io.delta#delta-spark_2.13' on GitHub runners for configure_spark_with_delta_pip; caching ~/.ivy2 with actions/cache keyed on uv.lock avoids repeat downloads.
