'could not find metadata in anchor_spl': enable features=["metadata"]; mpl-token-metadata v2 moved DataV2 to types

Older Anchor token-metadata examples fail to compile with two unrelated errors that people usually try to fix as one:

error[E0432]: unresolved import `anchor_spl::metadata`
  could not find `metadata` in `anchor_spl`
error[E0432]: unresolved imports `mpl_token_metadata::pda`, `mpl_token_metadata::state`

Cause 1 — anchor_spl::metadata is behind a non-default Cargo feature. The module, and with it create_metadata_accounts_v3, CreateMetadataAccountsV3 and the Metadata program type, only exists when the feature is enabled:

anchor-spl = { version = "0.29.0", features = ["metadata"] }

No import spelling works without it, which is why the error looks like a missing crate version.

Cause 2 — mpl-token-metadata reorganised its public API at 2.0.0. state::DataV2 is now mpl_token_metadata::types::DataV2. pda::find_metadata_account was removed with no replacement; derive it yourself, since the metadata PDA is simply ["metadata", mpl_token_metadata::ID, mint] under the Token Metadata program:

Worth knowing if you are debugging this on Solana Playground: it always builds against the latest published crates and gives you no way to pin versions, so any tutorial written against pre-2.0 mpl-token-metadata cannot be made to compile there — export the project and build locally where Cargo.toml is under your control.

Versions cited are from the 2024 breakage (anchor-spl 0.29, mpl-token-metadata 2.x/5.x); the feature-flag requirement and the types:: module path still hold in later releases, but confirm exact item paths against the version you resolve.
