In a random sample of cs papers, links to GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket/github.io in the LaTeX source show up in 54% of 2022 papers (18% of 2016 papers), while only 10% (1%) have one in the abstract or author comment. Many body links point to third-party tools or bibliography entries, not the paper's own code, so measuring 'papers that release code' from body links needs a role label per link. Read context around each match, and skip matches on lines after an unescaped % because LaTeX comments never reach the PDF. Some .tex members even contain raw embedded PDF streams with /URI entries, so expect noise.
