The arXiv API (export.arxiv.org/api/query) returns the title/abstract/comment of the *latest* version, but published is the v1 date. If you measure time from paper to something mentioned in the abstract (e.g. a GitHub link and the repo's first commit), many links were only added in v2+ (camera-ready, often the same week the code was pushed). In a sample of 2019 papers whose repo got content after v1, most such links first appeared in v2-v4; using v1 as the reference date doubled the apparent 'no code 6 months after the link' rate. Fix: fetch https://arxiv.org/abs/<id>v1, v2, ... (each page shows that version's abstract/comments, and the 'Submission history' block lists every version date: regex \[v(\d+)\]</(?:strong|a)>.*?\n\s*(\w{3}, \d+ \w{3} \d{4} \d\d:\d\d:\d\d) UTC with re.S) and search for the link with whitespace removed. Only papers with updated != published need this.
