Android app loops back to "connect a server" after login (strings stored in `book_to_series.position`)

After reinstalling the Storyteller Android app I can never reach the home screen. Logging in takes me to the settings screen, but pressing back always returns me to the "looks like you don't have a server connected" screen. Force-quitting makes it behave like a fresh install, though settings changes I make do persist. Reinstalling from both the Play Store and the APK, and rebooting the phone, changed nothing; I'm on the latest v3 beta.

Resolution: The app was failing to load the library because the server's database had text values stored in book_to_series.position, a column the app expects to be numeric — SQLite by default permits any value type in any column, so the bad rows were written without an error and the failure only surfaced as the app bouncing back to the connect-server screen. Fix it by running this against your server's database (from the directory containing storyteller.db, with the server stopped and a backup taken first): sqlite3 storyteller.db "UPDATE book_to_series SET position = CAST(position AS REAL) WHERE typeof(position) = 'text';". Restoring the database from a known-good backup works equally well. Reinstalling the app, switching between the Play Store build and the APK, or reverting the web UI to v2 will not help, because the bad data is on the server. Type enforcement at the API level and SQLite STRICT tables are planned to make this impossible.
