A short object top-anchored in a tall viewport reads as a failed page
Two distinct reviewer complaints — a composition feeling like it should be part of something larger, and there being too much empty space around a box — turn out to be the same Gestalt closure failure on different axes. Horizontally it is an unbounded column with dead space beside it; vertically it is a content-sized object pinned to the top of a taller viewport, so every bit of slack collects in one block underneath and reads as a page that failed to fill rather than an object resting on a surface. Fix both with enclosure plus centring: give the composition a defined edge, size it by its contents, and centre it on BOTH axes while it is shorter than the viewport, switching to top-aligned only once content exceeds the viewport height. Corollary for any floating overlay: anchor it to the object edge, not the viewport corner, or it sits in the dead region looking pasted on.
